I started a thread on Napoleonic painting that would provide great inspiration of dioramas for figures for the period.  I came across some new ones recently that I thought I would pass along.  Here is a nice one for British foot versus French cavalry.  This one represents action between the Blackwatch and Pire's Chasseurs a Cheval at Quatre Bras but it could be done for many battles with different units.  I was thinking FL Guards or HIghlanders versus FL, K&C and CS Cuirassiers for example.

Here's another with the reverse of French foot versus British cavalry, this time with Erlon`s Corps being routed by The 1st Dragoon Guards at Waterloo.  Again, many possibilities.  I was thinking of using the FL Blues and French Light and 18th Line

Here's a very nice one of the 95th at Waterloo.  Could do this with FL's 95th and any of the French Line figures for many other places but it suggests a mini story line I might pursue after the move.

Here is one I couldn't resist posting.  I think you will find it rather unique. <_<   Replicating it would be a challenge however.  Of course the Cuirassiers or other French cavalry substitute are quite available but I haven't come across a suitable mounted (or unmounted for that matter) "au naturel" opponent. :P

Here is another really cool one that I think could use some help on the figure side to pull off.  We have plenty of British foot, but it would be more fun with Royal Marines.

Another great 95th scene, plenty of possibilities with what I have available.

A great example a desperate charge and defense, here with Russian Jagers versus French Voltigeurs.  This is a scene where the gritty style of CS figures would be helpful.

As anyone who has followed my Napoleonic posts knows, I am not a fan of the Scots Greys.  Nothing against their courage but I just don't care for grey horses that much.  Nonetheless, here are some great paintings of the Greys in action:

What I really like about these is the poses of the charging horses, which unlike too many such paintings, are quite realistic.  Notice in particular the general absence of gaping mouths and bared teeth.  Notice also that most of the horses keep their necks relatively arched and not excessively extended, a sign of a well trained mount preserving its balance with the weight of its rider.  I hope some manufacturers can direct their sculptors to take note.
