The Small Faces never did make it big Stateside, but they were right up there with the Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Who, etc.

Of course, when Steve Marriott quit to form his own band, Humble Pie, they were at a complete loose end until Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood showed up  -- and they dropped the "Small", but that's a different story.

Here's one of their best tracks performed live on some long forgotten TV Show, and featuring the incomparable P.P. Arnold.

Saw them only once "live"...Many moons ago at Paisley Ice Rink...Along with The Who and Joe Cocker. More than a few great 'singles' and at least one terrific LP..."Ogden's Nut Gone Flake".

Happy Listening! And a very Merry Christmas to one and all.

Andy.

The Small Faces were just slightly before my concert-going time. That was still 4 or 5 years in my future. I always liked them though, along with a whole bunch of what might be classed as the second string of British Rock Bands in the very late 1960's.

I distinctly remember sticking a mike next to the speaker of a mono radio player tuned to Radio Luxembourg so's I could get all these cool sounds onto an old reel-to-reel tape recorder that my Dad didn't use anymore....

Good God, am I really that old?

Reckon I better go lie down........get the 'phones on, and listen to them some more...... B)  B)  B)

I remember hearing them but as you said, they never made it real big in the States; many musicians here were aware of them, though - kind of an "insider" thing. That group's influence really exceeded its own fame when one considers the massive influence its members went on to have in solo careers and members of other groups. Wow.

Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia
