Never seen this one from 2012, but intend watching it tonight. Not sure what I'll make of it to be honest, but it gets a 7.8 rating and reasonable reviews on IMDb, so it can't be too cloying -- if indeed, it is at all.

This is an excellent moving and provocative movie, based on a true incident, about a German mother and her young son in the winter of 1944. Three German and three American soldiers stumble upon her poor and rustic cabin on Christmas Eve. In the true spirit of Christmas she is willing to share her meager food with both Germans and Americans but insists they keep their guns outside. The tension, of course, is in her attempts to protect her son and control the animosity between the the two group of soldiers while they seek shelter under her roof.
