Okay I was initially dubious, but this is actually pretty good and well worth the time invested watching it.

David Soul was surprisingly engaging as Rick Blaine. The series' plots were interesting enough, and the characters well developed.

Rick's Cafe and the Blue Parrot are recreated to a tee at the Burbank Studios. The supporting cast is superb and the production crew are consumate professionals rich in the history of filmmaking:

David Soul as Rick, now that does require a suspension of disbelief.  I must admit I am certainly dubious since I never have though much of his acting.

Try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised as I was.

Everything I have seen David soul in has been the worse for it from Colombo to Poirot. Not an actor who inspires me to watch a show he plays such a role

As I mentioned, it was gobsmackingly surprising.

Perhaps it was the sets, or the good scripts, or maybe just the sum of parts....but I reckoned it was worth a go and am glad I did.

He was pretty good in the original "Salem's Lot" TV miniseries; I just have to get images of him sliding over the bar at the lounge though.

Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia
