While I am in now way any authority on any theater of the WWII ground war, I have always been somewhat fascinated by tanks and the recent posts here on the Tiger and Panther as well as the movie Fury rekindled some of my curiosity.  Everyone talks about Whitman but I have never heard this fellow mentioned.

It would seem he was a more amazing "Wardaddy" than Pitt's character.  As for the issue of the upgunned Sherman versus Tigers and Panthers, it seems this guy had no trouble knocking out a Panther at 1500 meters and seemed to enjoy seeking them out.  Has anyone done a "Pool In the Mood" Sherman?

TCS released an ''in the mood'' some time back based on this Tank man. I will dig some pics out later. Actually HR has one posted in his Sherman K&C inspection thread.

I like to think it was too many Gs in my case.  All that blood flowing away from the brain that my colleagues and I did our best to replace with alcohol after landing.
