All,

I have found a master painter who does exceptional work building and painting military miniatures.  Attached is just one example of his work.  He builds and paints military miniatures in both 1:30 and 1:35 scale.  I have his contact information if anyone is interested.

Alex

Bill,

Yes, he builds and paints figures. I will post more pictures of his work later this afternoon. I own the Sherman. It is a spectacular piece.

I’m familiar with Andy’s work, he’s already undertaken some commissions for me.
Attached is an SS officer he painted for me, next to the First Legion officer on the right.

What kind of prices?

Hi there,

it really depends on the project that Andy is undertaking.
for the single SS figure that I have attached, I was charged £45.
I was quoted this week to repaint 12 War Park SS figures £30 per figure.

So it really depends on the size of the order, the larger the order, the cheaper each figure becomes.

There are other painters out there, so it really is a question of personal preference and the the style of painting that you prefer.

I believe Tanks and armoured vehicles are not too expensive. Single figures and small orders, can work out quite expensive.

I hope this helps,

Neil

I have this week,  instructed an alternate painter to undertake the repainting of my War Park Das Reich figures. You will see from the attachments, how the new figure looks, with a more accurate camouflage smock and helmet, in comparison to the original War Park figure.

I think the figure looks significantly better than the original, let me know what you think?

I believe the new reworked figure is far superior and there is no comparison to the original War Park figure

The new reworked figure looks significantly better than the original, let me know what you think?

11 more figure to complete.

The cost to have these War Park figures reworked was £15 per figure (full figure repaint)

No they did not.

But the WSS did develop and produce a way of displaying rank on the camouflaged smock. Here is a chart to help you as well as a picture of an original example to show you exactly what they looked like. I can tell you 100% it wasn't widely implemented and in over 50 years of collecting and dealing in all kinds of Militaria I have handled and seen in person to authenticate 100's of smocks and have never seen any with the rank patch. But I have had several of the patches by themselves.

Most of the known real examples of the patches were like most WSS insignia brought back by veterans who liberated them from Dachau where there was a manufacturing plant and stores of unissued items were found and taken as souvenirs at the end of the war.

PS. please do not use pictures of reenactors like the one above as historical reference. Most of these guys have no idea what the hell they are doing.

Buy yourself some good reference materials and some good books produced by the veterans themselves with 100's of period photos to use as a reference as to what and how items were used and worn in the field.   All the best Gebhard

by the way nice figures, a 1000% percent improvement in the camo.  Night and day really.
