Wow Joe!!! Thats a lot of zulus, so much for the mini dioramas! tongue.gif Do you have any more shots of that larger set up? I choped up a couple of the zulus I picked up at the bunker from the 2 for 1 sale. I didn,t know a lot about whats what with the zulu regimental dress and noticed that there are different types of troops and I do recall you saying there were married and unmarried regiments. I don,t know whats what??? and if there are officer type figures that require different type of dress and this made me kind of second guess myself about what parts I could mix and match when converting them.

I did get quite a few chopped up but what I came up with was done quickly and I wasn,t overly happy with them I want to get some more and study them a bit better next time and try and come up with some more creative looking poses. Also the two differnt sets I bought were made from different plastics with a slight color difference and one plastic was a bit stiffer then the other also.
When I get around to painting them I,ll have to get some painting advice on what colors to use?

I was thinking of trying using some american indian figures and 2 part putty and converting a few into zulus. I wanted to do a few with muskets, I still might go back and redue a couple if I can find the right body parts.
TIM!!!

Lt., that is a great view, that looks like 100 plu Zulu from that angle. I know you have been very busy painting Zulu for the large dio you plan on showing. It looks like they are adding up. Great pics.

Tim are you asking about the 1st major set up I did or this set up. I've got just one more of this one and you'll notice the storehouse and hospital are set up facing the other way with the Zulus attacking the back of them. As I said it was set up to shoot mini photo dio's and I've already sent the Zulus off to rest. Mike there's 221 Conte Zulus in this photo with others resting. Tim what Zulu sets did you get?...Joe

I say paint them especially if you can do it as good as you. Vintage figures from the past probably shouldnt be painted although I have painted a few. I prefer Matt also as I have never seen a glossy soldier. Ok maybe a glossy general or two but not the soldiers.
I like your pictures and comparisons.
Keep having fun. laugh.gif

LT. I used Vallejo paints.... for the Zulu i used a color called Leather brown i thought it would work well for the skin tone..
I did not relize how much detail these figs have until i started painting them..... Note the bone thru the ear.. rolleyes.gif
Cheers
